Starting now, now you can purchase food straight out of Google Search, Google Maps, or even Google Assistant. The operation works with partnerships with present delivery firms like DoorDash, Postmates, and ChowNow, and means that you may purchase from any of these without needing to downloading an extra app or even seeing their site.
In Google Search and Google Maps, the operation works using a new “Order Online” button which will appear if you search for a restaurant that is supported. From here, you can select between delivery and pickup, and choose which service you need to purchase your meals through. If the restaurant affirms it, your purchasing choices are all created completely through Google’s port and Google Pay.
The Google Assistant execution on iOS and Android mobiles function in a similar manner. You initiate the process by requesting Google to purchase food from a particular restaurant, before choosing a shipping service and creating your meals choices via Google’s interface. Alternatively, you may request Google’s voice helper to repeat a prior arrangement in case you don’t need to take care of the indecision of selecting what to purchase. There is no mention of if this feature can be found via Google Assistant smart speakers, more usefully, Google smart screens.
The new performance supports five distinct delivery solutions at launching — DoorDash, Postmates, Delivery.com, Slice, and ChowNow — and Google says it’s going to include support for Zuppler and many others later on. Major delivery providers such as Uber Eats, Deliveroo, Grubhub, and Eat are now missing from Google’s roster.
This is simply the most up-to-date in a series of restaurant-related attributes that Google has just added to its own apps and solutions. The most well known of them is Google Duplex, a (largely ) automatic voice helper that is ready to phone up restaurants for your benefit and make bookings. It is ambitious, but thus far it has been met with restricted success. At this year’s Google I/O, the provider also demoed a brand new bit of Google Lens performance which permits you to point your camera in a restaurant’s menu and also watch testimonials from Google Maps.
