Crystal Dynamics has announced the conclusion of development for Marvel’s Avengers, two and a half years after the title’s launch in the fall of 2020.
During this time, the development team released 12 playable heroes, a full Wakanda expansion, multiple character-focused Operations, and other smaller content updates. The 2.7 update, released on November 30, 2022, was the final new content for Marvel’s Avengers, and the 2.8 update on March 31, 2023 will be the last, containing only balance updates and no additional cosmetics.
As a result, all remaining credits in players’ accounts will be converted to in-game resources, and all marketplace, challenge card, and shipment cosmetic content will be made free. Support for Marvel’s Avengers will end on September 30, and the game will be delisted from digital storefronts.
At launch, Marvel’s Avengers received middling reviews, with many praising the single-player content, but criticizing its repetitive multiplayer modes, abundant microtransactions, and slow implementation of new content.
