We are approaching the end of an automotive era, and as is frequently the case, there are a lot of really likeable, and unusually great cars on the market. But what car gets lost in a sea of excellence? What’s the most underrated car on the market?
In spite of the historically high prices for new cars, or perhaps because of them, it seems like there are really good options for every taste. Electric vehicles, of course, have never been better, but there are also mind-bending hypercars, relatively affordable sports cars, a stunning variety of supercars, a couple of awesome vans, incredible off-roaders, and more on offer today.
Enthusiasts today are spoiled for choice when it comes to sports cars in a way that would have seemed impossible a decade ago. Between the Toyota Supra, the Subaru BRZ, the Nissan Z, and let’s not forget America’s pony cars, there’s no shortage of fun, manual-equipped, pretty cars out there today.

Meanwhile, the Jeep Wrangler’s monopoly on affordable off-roading has been challenged by the Ford Bronco, and an electric challenger is coming soon in the form of VW’s Scout revival. And these are great, but they all get a lot of attention.
Today, we want to hear about the unsung heroes. The vehicles that are a little less showy than the mid-engine Corvette, and a little less obvious than, say, the BMW M2. These cars are without a doubt wonderful, but aren’t exactly under-celebrated.
An unsung hero could be the Cadillac CT4-V, which threw up a massive middle finger to its German competition, but failed to make an impression on the sales charts. It could also be the Toyota Corolla XSE, which, even though it isn’t offered with the manual anymore and is overshadowed by the GR variant, is still a cheap, fun, sensible little car.
What do you think, though? What’s the most underrated car on the market today?
