San Francisco: YouTube Music, a music streaming platform owned by Google, has unveiled a redesigned “album view” for Android and iOS devices. According to 9to5Google, the album artwork is now more prominently featured, with a blurred version of it visible behind it.
At the top, users will see the artist (which can be tapped), the album/single title, and the release year. Below that is a Wikipedia description. Available actions include download, add to library, play, share, and an overflow menu, which is where users will now find the shuffle feature.
As users scroll down the track list, a play FAB will appear in the bottom-right corner. At the very bottom, users will find the number of songs and total album duration.
Google has also increased the font size in the artist page and Explore tab, particularly in the list of top songs. YouTube Music also has mood filters, or an “activity bar”, which can be used to adjust what appears in the Home feed on the web. On the web version, it is left-aligned (as on tablets) and appears beneath the app bar, which can be used to switch between Home, Explore, Library, and Search. Pill-shaped buttons are used instead of rectangles with rounded corners for a more Material You look.
